Boys tennis team prepares for sectionals

With about a month left in their season, and less than a month until sectionals, the HSHS boy’s tennis team has a lot to prove. As of September 17, the varsity team has seven wins and four losses, while junior varsity has eight wins and four losses. The sectional finals will be on October 2 at HSHS.

“We are really excited to play. There’s a lot of pressure on us because we haven’t lost a sectionals match in a long time, but I know we will win,” varsity tennis player Nick Krauter said.

After a final score of 3-2 during a close match against Fishers during the mud sock on August 27, they have proven themselves formidable competition in sectionals.

“Fishers are improving every year, and almost beat us for the mud sock, but we are confidant that we will win sectionals this year, although it may be close,” varsity tennis player Josh Defonce said.

The team has had multiple injuries this season, including Addison Cazier and Nick Krauter, which has made deciding line ups difficult. Coach Webber has excelled in handling this issue.

“Webber has been great. I’ve always seen him as a father figure, I respect him a lot,” Defonce said.
