Senior day makes students seem important to the school

On Wednesday, Oct. 15, the seniors held their annual senior breakfast. Instead of taking the PSAT like the juniors and sophomores, seniors were allowed to sleep in and report to school at 8:30 a.m. instead of the usual time, 7:35 a.m. The cafeteria served a continental breakfast, then students reported to their SMaRT period teachers to take a survey about technology at the school and listen to a lecture from State Sen. Jim Merritt (R-Indianapolis). After all the activities were done, the seniors reported to the main gym to take the yearly “HSE” class picture.

Many seniors were excited to have a partial day off from regular school.

“I liked that we were able to arrive later than a normal school day and socialize for a while eating our breakfast,” senior Sarah Leuther said. “Also, I enjoyed how we had a guest speaker come and talk to us about certain issues around here. I found it quite interesting and I did learn about some new things.”

However, some seniors think there are some things the seniors could do that would improve their day for next year.

“I would definitely make it more fun [next year],” Leuther said. “I thought it was nice not going to classes for the first four periods, but adding in some enjoyable activities would have been better.”
