The fall play cast and crew work to present “A Bad Year for Tomatoes”

The actors have come together to present a play exclusively known. The play describes a woman named Myra Marlowe, a retired T.V actress writing her autobiography in a small New England town. For senior Eileen Porzuczek, trying out for the fall play was a different experience than before.

“I tried out for [Myra] because I knew it would challenge me and I’m always looking for a challenge to help me grow as a performer,” Porzuczek said. “I got so happy when I found out I got this role because I knew it would challenge me, and because [Myra] is a very sarcastic character, and I love sarcasm.”

Play rehearsals have already begun, and much time has gone into putting the production together. Rehearsals are every day after school, and much of it has already been blocked, a term used to describe the where the characters move on stage, and the crew has already started building the set. The actors, too, are working tirelessly.

“My time is extremely invested with this play as my character rarely leaves the stage because it all takes place in her home,” Porzuczek said.

Since Porzuczek was in third grade, she has never stopped performing. She is excited to present this year’s fall play with the school and continue her career.

“I plan to major in something of the theatrical arts while I am at college, whether its theatre, musical theatre, or film acting,” Porzueczek said. “My favorite part about performing is making people happy. If people leave the performance impressed and smiling, then I’ve done my job.”
