A Glimpse at Olio Road Productions

As we approach the end of the school year, we also approach the premier of the Olio Road Productions film. This entirely student made film, Cut For Time, is due to release May 19th this year. Olio Road Productions opens up opportunities for students to meet new people and learn new skills.

“Olio road productions is a student lead film team that works on one film a year” senior, and cinematographer and actor, Kyle Johnson said. “Anybody can join if they have experience or not it doesn’t matter. We literally work on the whole film all by ourselves.”

Students have a great deal of freedom in Olio Road Productions. Every part of the film is student lead, from the writing of the script and casting of the actors, to the directing and editing.

“I was fortunate enough to be involved with Olio Road Productions for two years, which means I helped create two films under their umbrella,” senior, and cowriter of this year’s film, Case Lowe said. “It was an enriching experience that I can’t recommend enough. Everyone that has an opportunity to get involved with ORPD should take advantage of it.”

This year’s movie has been moving along very smoothly, and they are ahead of schedule compared to past years.

“We’ve been working on this project since the first week of September,” Lowe said. “We’ve wrapped production after six months of shooting. We’re now in the post-production stages of the film.”

The film this year is a comedy about a group of high school students who, much like the students in Olio Road Productions, are creating a movie. It shows the ups and downs that the students face during the production of the movie.

“My favorite part of the film would have to be the humor, and how relatable it is,” senior, and assistant director, Nick Town said. “Although it is lighthearted and fun, it doesn’t shy away from showing the audience something they could themselves do, hopeful inspiring some creative minds in the process.”

Every member of Olio Road Productions has put great effort into the making of this movie. Don’t miss Cut For Time on May 19th. Story by Caitlin Jones
