Sophmore Ty Desplinter did not have a normal freshman athletic year, in fact He might have had one of the best athletic years ever by a freshman. Desplinter is both a hockey player and a lacrosse player, both teams winning their respective state championships in his freshman year.
” He is a tough kid,” Said coach Beesely,” playing enforcer in hockey and long stick midfielder in lacrosse both of these positions require a lot of grit and hard-nose play.”
Desplinter may be young but already he is one of the leaders on the lacrosse team, having respect from the upperclassmen and being a role model for the underclassmen. Although he is not a captain he is very vocal on the fieldĀ In his time on both teams, he was asked about the differences and similarities between the two state championship teams.
” The work ethic on both teams was similar” said Desplinter, ” But lacrosse being a varsity sport was different, it felt a lot closer and a lot more like a family,”
