A Newfound Love  

Take a look into Andrew Orme’s transition from basketball to a varsity tennis athlete.

From the clock ticking down in a packed gymnasium, to the sound of tennis balls and rackets in the sun. 

In high school sports, the best players are usually the people who have played since they were little kids, however not for Andrew Orme. He only began focusing on tennis after not making the basketball team freshman year and is now playing #1 on varsity.

“After not making the basketball team,” Orme said, “I really decided to focus more on tennis and have just improved every year.” 

Orme has spent countless hours practicing and training since freshman year, working to be better than he was the day before. Going into his third year on the tennis team, he has gone from JV 1 to Varsity 1 on the team. 

“After my sophomore year, I took it up a notch” Orme said, “I practiced almost every day, played tournaments most weekends”.

Orme doesn’t like to lose and will do everything he can to improve. At practices and with the team, he always makes everyone around him better and is a great team player. 

“Andrew’s always out here competing.” Coach Webber said. “Whatever drill we’re doing; he hates to lose. I think that’s one of his best qualities.” 

The work Andrew has put in throughout his high school career has set him up for major success.
