Q and A: Girls Swim and Dive Team Members

Trinity Mackenzie

This weekend I asked a few girls on the swim and dive team a few questions about this year’s season. Sophomores Ella Penny, Jordan Daugherty, Claire Hamilton, and freshman Avery Witt responded to my questions about this year.

Q: In your opinion, what was the best part of the season for the team?

Avery Witt

A: I think the best part of the season for the team was probably halfway through the season because we were all working hard and still fighting to win meets it really showed our work ethic.

Claire Hamilton

A: I think for the team the best part of the season was being able to have a season at all especially because most of these athletes have been swimming for around ten years.

Q: What was the best part of the season for you?

Jordan Daugherty

A: For me the best part of the season was getting the opportunity to swim fast and have fun! Specifically the Franklin Central dual meet was really fun and the energy was amazing! Everyone was just cheering for and having fun with each other.

Ella Penny

A: The best part of my season was getting to see the major improvements in my dives compared to last season and even the beginning of this year, and that I was able to be proud of my accomplishments.

Q: Did COVID-19 prevent you from having fun and being apart of the team at all?

Ella Penny

A: Covid definitely divided us a bit this year, but in my opinion we remained good of friends and always found ways to support each other, even if it had to be from afar.

Claire Hamilton

A: Covid didn’t prevent me from having fun this season it just allowed our team to have fun and bond in different ways.

Q: In a couple words how would you describe this year’s swim and dive season?

Jordan Daugherty

A: I would describe the season as unique and exciting. This season was different but also exciting because of the emphasis put on taking every opportunity you had to race fast.

Claire Hamilton

A: This year’s season was definitely interesting and different but the challenges made things new and exciting.

Q: This was your first year on the swim team, so how was it?

Avery Witt

A: My first season on the team was one that I will never forget, being able to be part of the traditions they do every year was unbelievable and so much fun.
