SSN: Preview of Boys Volleyball Season

Gabriella Haynes

As spring is approaching, so is the boys’ volleyball team’s season. Open gyms for their team have previously started in September and matches will begin in March. Different from other school sports, they focus on the fun aspects of team building and exercise. Though there are usually no tryouts, the season brings the friendly competition that athletes enjoy. This year, they are expecting at least 40 people to show out for their team.

The team has players who come back each year, but the coaches would be excited to work with anyone who would like to expand their team and build their skills.

“We still have a lot to improve on,” said sophomore Carl Fampo. “We’re getting better and I think we have a good chance this season.”

Every year, the team looks forward to practicing together and hanging out. The friendships made on the team bring them together and help with their performance on the court

As it is a club sport, there is an abundance of time for players to practice and better their skills. The athletes use this time to come together and improve before their season officially begins.

The boys have a Varsity and 2 junior varsity teams. The competition extends to any school that has a boys’ volleyball team and even to Lafayette. This team is looking to grow and would love to welcome any athlete who wants to join.
