This years United States Grand Prix ended in a close one between the two championship leaders, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. With tire wear getting worse each lap for Verstappen after his second pitstop onto the hard compounded tires, Hamilton was closing in on him, also on aged hard compounded tires. However Verstappen pulled off the win by 1.333 seconds undercutting Hamilton twice over the course of the race. Hamilton almost got DRS (drag reduction system) on the last lap which could’ve helped him pass Verstappen and get a win, but Verstappen held out putting him up by 12 points in the drivers championship. Verstappen’s teammate, Sérgio Perez’ water system broke after the first lap and was without water for the remaining 55 laps. Pérez astonishingly still ended up on the podium giving Red Bull some needed points for the Constructors Championship. Rounding out the top 10 was Charles Leclerc, Daniel Ricciardo, Valtteri Bottas, Carlos Sainz, Lando Norris, Yuki Tsunoda, and Sebastian Vettel in that order. Vettel passed Kimi Räikkönen on the last lap after he sped off the track into the gravel area, giving Vettel some points. With only 5 races remaining on the schedule, it will be a fierce battle and one for the ages between Max Verstappen and the 7 time world champion, Lewis Hamilton.
