With a closing regular season of 7-2, the Royals were on a hot streak for most of this season. This winning season can be accredited to all the players on our Royals Football Team, but this year there were many special plays by Class of 2022 seniors, like Blaine Wertz. Wertz has had a total of 19 touchdowns this season adding into the 29 touchdowns of his high school varsity career. When asked about his feelings on this sectionals being his last, he says, “There’s nothing much to my feelings and thoughts toward the sectional run beside it’s the last one and us seniors what to make it a special one. None of the games matter up until the playoffs. We are just going to focus on one game at a time.”

Another stand-out senior that’s name is well known would be Noah Wolf. With a total of 153 all-purpose yards, Wolf has made some big plays for the Royals this season, such as his 99-yard play against Lawrence Central. When asked about his feeling about this season’s sectionals, he says, “I’m excited [for this year], the way last year ended was obviously not how we wanted it to go, you can tell the program is growing… We have an awesome group of seniors and a great group of young guys.”

One last senior name that is worth mentioning is Dylan Conner. Standing at 6 foot 1 with 388 receiving yards, Conner has arguably been a clutch part of the Royals’ offense. When asked about his emotions on this last sectional run, he says, “Last year our sectional run was cut early due to lack of preparation… This year [we] have a different mentality. This could be the last time I put on an HSE football jersey. It’s either win or go home”.

The Royals defeated the Fishers Tigers 34-0 in the first sectional game and will be playing Westfield on November 5th, for the second round.
