Girls Basketball Season in Review

Highs and Lows; the main factor of this whole season but this season had showed a lot for the future of the Lady Royals! This may have been the 1st season of Coach Satterfield transitioning over to the girls side of the ball. But he had some big tasks coming up like looking for who could be in place for Lydia Self. There was no issue to be have in that department as Riley and Maya Makalusky both stepped up this season to being one of the best duo’s in the state. When you also look at the supporting cast you see they have great pieces like Olivia Brown to get you the ball in anyway or defensive senior leader Makayla Hinshaw. Coach Satterfield and his Royals were hot to start the season winning their first 3 games behind some big games from the teams leading scorer Riley Makalusky. But the next stretch of games were rough as they dropped 2 games but also won 2 but there was a beaming light still there and that was the twins as they were putting up amazing numbers but you had players from the bench stepping up like Lauren Stewart and Teegan Acres. With conference play up this is where the Royals started to really struggle and miss a groove but strong senior leadership from Makayla Hinshaw and Zoe Bolding they helped win some tough games and overall end the season on a 14-7 record going into sectionals. This sectional game was not like every-other as we had to play our uptown rival Fishers, who was coming off a great year. Going into the gam the girls and Coach Satterfield knew what to do to stop this team and it was a battle all 4 quarters but in the end Fishers got some big stops on defense and a early end to the season. There is nothing to be ashamed about though as this is a big step up from lower class-man and giving them the opportunity now could help shape a dangerous team for Coach Satterfield next year!
