HSE Defeats Westfield 5-3 to Pick Up First Conference Win

The Hamilton Southeastern Royals snatched the lead late in the game in a 5-3 victory over the Westfield Shamrocks on Thursday to pick up a huge inter-conference victory.  The game was tied at three with the Royals batting in the bottom of the fifth when Griffen Haas drew a walk, scoring one run.

Westfield got things started in the first inning.  Trey Dorton grounded out, scoring one run.

Brady Strawmyer earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Hamilton Southeastern. The southpaw surrendered zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Gage Stanifer took the loss for Westfield. The right-handed hurler lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and five runs while striking out 12.

Cam Howard started the game for the Hamilton Southeastern Royals. Howard went four innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out two

Hamilton Southeastern Varsity Royals hit one home run on the day. Chugga Rosario had a homer in the third inning to right field.

Ty Bradle went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Hamilton Southeastern Royals in hits.

Westfield had ten hits in the game.  Maximus Webster and Dorton all collected multiple hits for the Shamrocks.  Webster led the Westfield Shamrocks with three hits in four at bats.

Hamilton Southeastern will match up in the finale of the doubleheader tonight at Westfield as they look to pick up their first conference sweep of the season.
