Addison Ginther

Chelsea Murdock and Chugga Rosario won the September Senior “Set A Good Example” award.

The SAGE award is given monthly to one senior boy and girl who were nominated by various teachers. The teachers nominate seniors who they think possess qualities of leadership, are great role models, have a positive attitude, set a positive example in word, deed, and appearance, display emotional stability, and self-control.

The award winners receive medallions and have their photos displayed in the main commons that throughout the school year.

“Being given our medallions by Principle Simmons was so incredibly special,” Murdock said. “Definitely a highlight in the experiences I have here at HSE.”

“It honestly felt amazing,” Rosario said. “It was a huge accomplishment, and I was very shocked that I won.”

It is important that the teachers get a say in who wins because they are the only people that truly know how hard these students work.

“I knew of the award but never really expected it or even knew I was nominated,” Rosario said. “It was honestly a great surprise.”

“I was caught off guard,” Murdock said. “But it was such an honor to be able to be recognized for the hard work that I have tried to put forth in my time here at HSE.”
