Opening night of fall production was a success

On Thursday, Nov. 13, the Drama Club performed opening night of their production, “A Bad Year for Tomatoes.” The cast members earned laughter throughout the show and received a standing ovation at the end.

Senior and Thespian Troupe member Eileen Porzuczek played the part of the main character. She believes the show went well.

“My favorite part was getting to be the two different characters because it was really fun to be able to be a sane character and then a really insane character all at once,” Porzuczek said.

Cast and crew members worked after school and on weekends for the past two months to rehearse and build the set. Because of the long hours, students involved in the production have grown close.

“I just love how close we are as a family, it’s a wonderful environment,” Porzuczek. “Everyone honestly has everyone else’s back when we’re out there, and it’s great.”

Porzuczek acted alongside senior Thespian Troupe member Ari Meza. This was Meza’s first leading role in a show at HSHS.

“I felt like the actors and the audience were both incredibly energetic,” Meza said. “I’ve only heard great things about it so I think the overall consensus of the audience was that it was a very funny show.”

Lights Head Griffin Barrington agrees. After working late throughout rehearsals to design, coordinate, and run the lights for the show, he is proud of how everything turned out on opening night.

“It went extremely well,” Barrington said. “We had an engaged and responsive audience, and all of the actors were at the top of their games.”

To be a part of this audience and experience the show, students, parents, and Fishers residents can attend the show on Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7:00 p.m.
