The voluntary sector has a vital role to play in Scotland, with 45,000 voluntary organisations, 13,000 paid staff and up to 1.2 million volunteers.HSE, and the STUC have teamed up to remind voluntary organisations that they all have a role to play in ensuring the safety and health of their army of volunteers, and to reassure volunteers that they too are protected by health and safety legislation.

This new edition of A guide to the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 contains the same regulations (with minor changes to regulation 2) but brings the associated guidance up to date, particularly in relation to the changes in reporting arrangements and the need to use the Incident Contact Centre.

Alterations have been made to Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) following the Quarries Regulations 1999 that replaced various legislation including Quarries (Explosives) Regulations 1988.
