Outside Food Inside the School

JJWith the recent crackdown on bringing in food from outside sources, many people have turned to bringing food in simply out of site. It is important to remember why these rules are in place. While many allergies cause little more than irritation or inflammation, food allergies have a much higher chance of being life threatening. Inflammation to the point of someone’s throat closing up is not worth another person’s granola bar. So while it seems like a very mundane, useless enforcement, the consequences of not enforcing it can be possibly life threatening for some people. What makes it even more dangerous is the fact that you cannot tell who has an allergy and who doesn’t. Unless it comes up in conversation, there’s no way to know if a person is allergic, or how allergic they are, to certain things. Many students have ample time to eat before school, or in the car. If you do not have time before school, or you ride the bus, the school has two separate places that are designated for eating. Do everyone with allergies a favor, and keep your food to yourself.
