The largest data leak of all time was leaked on April 3, 2016. Over 10 million files within the database of Mossack Fonseca were publicly released with regards to offshore money laundering. Many important political figures were exposed to evading taxes including the prime minister of Ireland, Britain and also Vladmir Putin, the president of Russia. While laundering money can have benefits, many wealthy figures have been accused of abusing the ability to do so and do not have to pay income taxes. Within the Mossack Fonseca company, billions of dollars have been dumped into it by important political figures and this data leak confirms the allegations against those who were guilty.
