Sophomore Anna Miller Designs HSE Snapchat Geofilter

IMG_0674On Tuesday morning, HSE students were surprised with the school’s first Snapchat filter. But the design did not come from the app itself, it was actually designed and submitted by sophomore Anna Miller. After learning that geofilters could be designed by non-Snapchat employees, Miller took matters into her own hands.

“I was watching one of the discover stories when I saw an ad from Snapchat about being able to submit your own geofilter,” Miller said. “Whenever I travel somewhere new I love looking at all the geofilters, so I decided to check it out. I saw that you could design any geofilters for your community, submit it to Snapchat, and they would activate it if the liked. It was all free, so I figured why not? I decided to make one for HSE because I knew so many students used Snapchat and, like me, loved to find new geofilters and a little school spirit never hurts.”

When Miller learned that her filter was approved Monday evening, she was ecstatic. In a few hour’s time, the geofilter was live.

“When I found out it was accepted I was so excited,” Miller said. “I ran down to the school to see if the geofilter had worked and started taking a bunch of snaps.”
