Amid Personal Achievement, Senior Bre Lloyd Stays Focused on Team Success

2016 was a big year for Senior Bre Lloyd. Not only did she commit to attend and play basketball at Wright State University, but she also scored her 1,000th career point with the Lady Royals. Although, if you were to ask her, she’d never bring any of that up. What’s most important to her is that she and her team keep cranking out win after win.

“Where [scoring 1,000 points] was a huge accomplishment, I’m more focused on the overall success of the team as we are having one of the best seasons in a long time” said Lloyd.

She’s right, too. The Lady Royals, members of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference, are enjoying an incredible season at 17-4. They’ve gone 5-1 in conference play as well, both of which rank among the top two in the HCC. To top it off, the Ladies have the most potent offense in the state, averaging nearly 64 points per game as a team.

During her time at Hamilton Southeastern, Lloyd has used the sport of basketball to her advantage to help in both life and in future athletics.

“[Basketball has taught me] a lot of time and dedication, being apart of all the teams I’ve played with has been a life lesson and I use it as an avenue to teach me life skills” Lloyd says.

She also had some kind words for HSE staff and future alumni.

“HSE is known for being one of the top high schools in the state of Indiana” said Lloyd, “I think we have some of the best teachers around as well as principals, guidance counselors, and support staff. I would advise all future athletes to make the best decision for them and their families, and not to let outside influences factor into that decision. HSE support staff will always be there for you to help guide you through hard times and success.”

It seems staying humble was also one of the many things Lloyd was taught as well. Story by Garrett Chorpenning.
