Road to the Marathon

Last night, another point of HSE’s Riley Dance Marathon Club’s path to the Dance Marathon was reached with the Riley Dance Marathon Fashion Show.

“Everyone had so much fun and the MCs gave the audience a great laugh,” assistant vice president junior Haeli Juthani said. “My favorite parts were seeing the mommy and me models, the prom couples, and the surprise promposal at the end. It was a great turnout and I cannot wait for next year!”

The next event for RDM takes place tomorrow. The FT5K will be at 8 a.m. on March 18.

“This year is out first annual FT5K,” club president senior Tory Ochs said. “It’s a group effort between HSE FFA, HSE RDM, and Fishers RDM to raise money for both dance marathons. The 5K is ran around the Nickel Plate district. When an individual signs up, they receive a blue shirt for HSE or a red shirt for Fishers, depending which school they choose to represent. Our goal is to have more HSE runners there than Fishers! It will be a ton of fun and it supports a great cause.”

With the Dance Marathon soon approaching, club members have been preparing in order to make it fun for everyone involved.

“Preparations for have been hectic just like they would be for any event, but it’s also very exciting to see everything falling into place as the dance gets closer,” junior Grace Hamilton said. “The dance isn’t here yet but it’s almost like I can picture it, as we have gone into so much detail in preparations to make it the best for everyone and helpful to all the Riley children.”

Throughout the entire year, RDM has held many events, fundraisers, as well as Miracle Minutes in order to reach their desired goal.

“Our dance marathon is the biggest event of the year and it’s such an inspiring thing to be a part of,” assistant vice president junior MaKenzie Thompson said. “Local Riley kids and Purdue Dance Marathon come out to support us. There’s lots of free food and a great DJ. We also reveal our grand total, which will hopefully pass our goal of $40,000 this year.” Story by Jennifer Turock.
