“Stay-Cation”

For those who are having a “staycation” this spring break, there are many chances to make great memories and make the most out of your spring break while staying local.

One common way people look to enjoy the spring weather in Fishers is Flat Fork Park. What used to be just a hill surrounded by woods has been turned into a park that the public can walk, hike, bike, fish, run and explore the multiple tree houses that scatter the woods and its trails. Flat Fork can be found at 16141 E 101st St.

If you and your friends are looking to have a great time and capture those memories through photos, head down to Geist Park right off Florida road. It is a beautiful park lined with thick trees that would be perfect place to take photos that will last a life time. Geist Park is also a great place to set up a picnic on one of the banks that overlook the Geist Reservoir.

It is little known that in Hamilton County we have a 750-acre park in the trees! Strawtown Koteewi Park is filled with hiking and equestrian trails as well as a natural history center and an archaeological exhibit. Strawtown has trees lined with zip lines and obstacle courses that fill the trees. If heights do not make you intrigued, then you can visit the state-of-art target and 3D shooting range.

Just outside of Fishers in the heart of Old Town Carmel the Carmel Arts & Design District is quite a design destination. It is home to interior masterpieces, art galleries and showrooms. You can find little boutiques with one of a kind knickknacks that corner the streets. An evening out in the District would be a great way to find shops, restaurants and art that you would not be able to find anywhere else.

Downtown Fishers is also a great way to spend a spring Saturday morning. Going to the Well Coffee house for bunch is a great way to get yummy breakfast sandwiches and enjoy good company. After your brunch you could stop into the multiple boutiques. Stores like Dottie Couture have clothes that are sure to set trends. By: Evelyn Eggers.
