The Future of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI), the theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making and translation between languages. It is quickly becoming a must-have for todays software.

Growing up, many high school students’ first experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) was in the form of video games. Playing Mario Kart against CPU’s was revolutionary at the time. Having the Nintendo 64 or Wii create a character that is smart enough to drop bananas and blue shells blew minds.

AI has come a long way since the early 2000s. Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, has implemented futuristic technology in all of his cars to create the best user experience possible. However, he has mixed opinions on the technology.

“Sometimes what will happen is a scientist will get so engrossed in their work that they don’t really realize the ramification of what they’re doing,” Musk said. “We’re already cyborgs, your phone and your computer are extensions of you, but the interface is through finger movements or speech, which are very slow.” He believes in the future, we will need to merge with AI, otherwise we will fall behind.

Businesses have benefited greatly from the use of Artificial Intelligence, including the cash service Apttus. The AI has assisted in specifically in the contracting system. Apttus CEO and company founder Kirk Krappe is glad technology can assist so much with his company.

“There are a series of decision points in the contract workflow and companies can use I to help decide which way to go and which of these to prioritize,” Krappe said. “Organizations that combine contract management with artificial intelligence gain ability to explicitly trade off considerations of rise, cycle time, cost, and negotiation outcomes.”

Overall, AI’s have improved technological actions tremendously. But, is living in a world where computers think like us safe?
