Choir Spring Show Theme Revealed

Every year, right before the spring choral showcase, both the choir directors announce the theme of the show. Students guess and have their own theories about what the theme could possibly be. Traditionally both the advanced choirs, Royal Edition and Royal Sensation, travel during the school day to practice their songs and have a dinner. During the dinner, they have a big reveal of what the theme of the spring show is and it is a big party. This year they revealed the theme differently.

The choir directors, Shawn Porter and Danielle Mullen, decided to break the tradition and announce the theme a little earlier than usual. The day of the announcement, the directors hinted at the theme being announced that day, but never gave a specific time. Feb. 9 the theme was announced right before the end of seventh period. For years now, a lot of the choir students had been yearning for the spring show theme to be Disney.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to the songs the choir department could be singing. The Disney franchise has been around for almost eighty years, and the directors never shy away from very old songs. The songs could come from classic Disney movies like Snow White, The Jungle Book, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, etc. The songs could also go the live-action route with movies like High School Musical, Camp Rock, Cheetah Girls or even Mary Poppins. They could even choose songs from movies that were recent such as; Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, Frozen or Moana.

Even though the spring show theme is announced, this does not mean that the choirs know what they are singing just yet, this means many of the students want to try out for a solo or get a small group together to sing a Disney themed song. They are going to have to wait till the directors announce all the songs that the choirs are singing. So as of right now, the guessing game continues.
