This past Saturday, March 10 at SportONE Parkview Icehouse, the HSE Hockey Club won the ISHSHA (Indiana State High School Hockey Association) 3A state championship title. Originally placing fourth in the division, HSE came and conquered winning four-six against Crown Point for the title. This victory was their fourth win in a row for the season.

The team is a mix of HSE, Fishers and Yorktown students. HSE senior Alec Shaffer plays right wing as a forward offense and is glad to end his hockey career with a state title.

“The best part about being on the team was knowing that no matter what happened we would always still be there for each other,” Shaffer said. “Being a part of such a tight-knit team is what made this win possible.”

HSE’s last state championship victory was in 2013 for Boys Track & Field. Although hockey is a club and cannot be accounted for as an official HSE school sport, it is evident that the players have worked as hard as any school sport to deserve the 3A state championship title.

“The most memorable part of the season was when we won state,” Shaffer said. “I know it just happened but it was a great feeling to accomplish that with the boys.”
