Diving Into Spring Break

As the countdown towards the end of the school year begins, one last break remains; spring break. Students travel internationally, within the country, or indulge in a staycation. Travel essentials make the student’s trips the best they could be. No matter the type of vacation, students participate in the week-long mini taste of summer.

Traveling abroad, junior Katelyn Montalvo eagerly awaits her upcoming vacation. Montalvo’s vacation is more than a relaxing getaway, but more importantly a learning experience and a family reunion.

“I’m going to Amsterdam in the Netherlands and I am very excited to go,” Montalvo said. “When I go, I’m going to see my brother and sister who go to college there, as well as my extended family.”

While sightseeing in Amsterdam, Montalvo plans on visiting the Anne Frank house as well as the Van Gough art museum.   Montalvo plans ahead by making sure she has her favorite essentials for her break to occupy herself while she waits to arrive at her final destination.

“My travel essentials would definitely be a cute backpack and some healthy snacks,” Montalvo said. “I also always have a good book with me to pass time.”

Instead of traveling far, sophomore Bayla Graham is excited about her staycation. Graham plans to spend her break relaxing and recovering from the semester’s work. She wants to make memories at home and experience her city in a new way.

“I am going to make my staycation awesome by seeing Fishers in a new light,” Graham said. “I haven’t experienced the new accommodations Fishers has to offer like Topgolf and Ikea.”

Freshman Victoria Goeglein is staying in the country for her spring break. She’s excited about her plans to go to Naples, Fla. with her family.

“My favorite part about vacationing is spending more time with my family,” Goeglein said. “Especially my grandpa and cousins because I don’t get to see them as much.”

While away on vacation, Goeglein plans on going to the beach every day and spending a lot of time outside. She hopes to get a good tan and relax on her break from school. Goeglein’s love for the beach is evident, based on her travel essentials. She will not be seen without her swimsuit while in Florida because she plans to spend as much of her time at the beach as possible. She will also always have her camera in hand to catch a picture of the sunset.
