Five Places in Indiana to Enjoy the Warm Weather

Now that Indiana has finally shaken off the winter snow and the temperature is warming up, many students are looking for places to go this spring and summer so that they can enjoy the nice weather. Indiana has a plethora of places to go out and enjoy the sun, the only thing is you might need to leave Fishers.

  1. Fort Harrison State Park: In nearby Lawrence, Fort Harrison is 1,700 acres of land filled with hiking and biking trails, as well as multiple bodies of water where visitors can go fishing. The park is also home to a saddle barn, where visitors can rent a horse and walk the scenic trails as a group. Fort Harrison is also a great place to go on a picnic, whether that be on a picnic table or out on the lush, green grass.
  2. Brown County: In order to escape the flat terrain of central Indiana, go south towards Brown County. Not only are the rolling hills a change of place for driving, but Brown County is home to Brown County State Park. The park is ideal for camping (home to rentable cabins as well as a lodge), hiking and sightseeing, considering that it is well-known for the scenic views of the hills and valleys of southern Indiana. Tennis courts and a swimming pool are also available. Visitors can also stop in the nearby town of Nashville, home to various small businesses that are perfect for browsing.
  3. Garfield Park Conservatory: The oldest city park in Indianapolis, Garfield Park is home to both a plant conservatory, where guests can see tropical plants, as well as the European-style Sunken Garden, filled with musical fountains and seasonal plants. The park also features the MacAllister Center for the Performing Arts, which hosts both musical and theatrical events throughout the summer.
  4. The Exotic Feline Rescue Center: The EFRC is a working rescue in Center Point for exotic felines that may have been abused or abandoned. Public tours are available, where visitors can see big cats such as lions, tigers, leopards, cougars and more.
  5. White Rock Park: White Rock Park is great for those who are seeking a bit of adventure and excitement. Home to a natural sapphire blue swimming hole, visitors can engage in various thrills including cliff diving, zip lining and scuba diving.
