Jack Herzog 

The Multi-Talented Athlete 

Jack Herzog is a well-known swimmer known for multiple talents and leadership skills. He has been swimming for the club team since his 3rd grade and the school team since his freshman year.

Not only is this athlete a swimmer and one of the captains of the team, but he is also a member and president of multiple clubs in our school. He is currently involved in choir, is vice president of the math team, and is president of the philosophy club. 

Herzog chose to be involved in multiple clubs and activities because of his enthusiasm, and socialization. Herzog said, “I’ve always enjoyed just doing different things and trying to meet new people.” 

With Herzog participating in all these clubs and swimming, his swim coach Pedersen said, “I definitely think it makes him more well-rounded, and I think it’s a great example of leadership for our team because we want our guys to do that.”  

One skill that Herzog excels is being able to balance his times effectively. All the clubs he’s in have meetings at different times, so he’s able to fit them in perfectly with his swim practices.  

“Jack is sort of a master of time management, and that’s one of the lucky things about him,” Pedersen said.  

Herzog said, “I think swimming and participating in all these different clubs at the same time has really helped me become more active and responsible since I get to try different things, be involved in different things, and meet a lot of different people.” 

Playing sports while also running and participating in school clubs, isn’t something that’s easy to manage. Herzog however, is able to do so very well and has proven how organized and talented of an athlete he really is.
