Fiel Fampo 

The Jump to Success 

Fiel Fampo is not your typical high school athlete. He plays on a team that many students have never heard of. Fampo is a member of the Men’s Volleyball team. During his sophomore year, he was looking for something fun to do with his spare time and was introduced to volleyball, which he fell in love with. 

Fampo faced an immediate challenge when entering the sport: his height. He joined the volleyball team and was one of the shortest players on the court. This was an obstacle he had to work to overcome. When asked about how he overcame this challenge, he said, “When I have free time, I like to go to the gym to work on my leg and core strength to increase my vertical which allows me to compete with the taller players.” When Fiel is faced with challenges, he attacks them head on and does not back down. 

Zach Marden, one of Fiel’s teammates, shared his thoughts on what Fiel means to the team. He said, “Even though Fiel is one of the shortest players on the team,” said Marden. “He is such a versatile player and is highly skilled at every position. This is due to all of the hard work he has put in. He inspires his teammates to work harder and he has grown into the leader of the team.” Fiel is a very unique athlete with an inspirational story that everyone can learn from.
