SSN: Taylor Pozzebon/Carrie Colglazier Spotlight

Taylor Pozzebon is a senior soccer player at HSE, in her final year on the team she and the other seniors led the team to a conference championship and were the number one team in the state. Although she was tremendous on the soccer field, there is something else that sets her apart from the average player. She has decided to apply for the Carrie Colglazier scholarship offered by HSE.  Carrie Colglazier was a stand out student from HSE, involved in National Honors Society, FFA, track and soccer and tragically killed by a drunk driver in 2003. Each year student representatives of the girls’ soccer and track teams, FFA, and National Honors society volunteer to help with spring cleaning, do yard work, or even baby sit for donors.  There is also a scholarship for one lucky applicant who applies for it of six-teen thousand dollars per year.

” It is a horrible thing that happened to her” Said Pozzebon, ” that’s why we do our best each year to try and raise awareness on the subject.”

The person who is selected for this scholarship must show traits of giving back to the community, great leadership skills, and much be a high academic achiever.

” I think that Taylor is as qualified as anyone to win that scholarship” said Girls varsity soccer coach Mr. Davidson ” She has done everything that has been asked of her and more and it would bring a smile to my face to see her succeed”.
