Every year from January through March, HSE has an intramural basketball league. One league is grades 9/10 and the other is grades 11/12. Both leagues also are split up into “competitive” and “recreational”. By splitting the league up by age and skill level, the league is fairer and better for the players. Most of the players in the league are either other spot athletes, players that aren’t good enough to play for the school team, and players who just like to play the game some and have fun with their friends. The league is run very well as each team receives jerseys and is guaranteed to play at least 8 games. After the regular season is over, every team competes in a tournament where the champion team and runner-up team both receive awards. Intramural Basketball is designed to be a fun experience while being competitive at the same time, and HSE does a great job making sure their league is run like that.
