Royal in the Pros: Matt Gorski

Hamilton Southeastern alumni Matt Gorski was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates with the 57th overall pick in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft. Gorski graduated from HSE in 2016 and went to play for Indiana University. During his time with the Hoosiers, Gorski had an overall batting average of 0.306 and 24 career home runs. Some of his collegiate career highs were 4 hits against Canisius, 4 RBIs against Michigan State, and 3 stolen bases against Illinois. The outfielder is current on the Pirates farm team, the West Virginia Black Bears, where he appeared in 49 games and had a batting average of 0.223. Gorski also had 40 hits, 22 RBIs, and 3 home runs. As spring training begins in the MLB, Gorski will start the season with the Greensboro Grasshoppers, where he looks to climb up the ranks into the Pirates lineup.
