SSN: QNA with J Bush

Q: What are some things you’re doing to stay involved with your sport even though we can’t play?

A: I have been throwing and hitting with a few of my teammates trying to stay in shape. I have also been in my backyard throwing and working on catching with my little brother everyday.

Q: How does the Coronavirus effect you and your sport specifically?

A: Coronavirus effects my sport because it has pushed back our season. Many of us were looking forward to getting back onto the field and playing the game we love with our brothers but we hopefully only have to wait until May 1st to get back out there. However, with the Coronavirus infection rate rising everyday, I have no idea if we will be able to play at all.

Q: What’re your feelings towards the situation at hand?

A: I personally am not a fan of this situation because my teammates and I aren’t able to compete and play the sport we love. I have empathy for the seniors who don’t get a chance to play one last season at HSE. Some have baseball scholarships and some don’t, so the seniors that were working for them, they don’t get that chance anymore and I feel bad for them.

Q: What advice could you give to other athletes experiencing the same thing?

A: Keep working hard. Even though gyms are closed, it doesn’t mean you can’t get a good workout in. Coach K always has workouts for us, so there is no reason for us not to be in shape when it’s go time. Also keep in touch with your teammates and keep the relationships with them so when the season starts, the team chemistry is even higher.
