New U.S. Travel Bans

Lauren Riina

With the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, many U.S. states have looked to travel restrictions in order to keep Americans from spreading the virus further. There are many differing opinions on these travel bans, varying from people against the travel bans to those angry at states with no restrictions whatsoever.

States that have a high number of covid cases, such as Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Idaho, have begun placing restrictions. These states, and many others, are requiring travel papers, self-quarantines, and negative COVID tests before entering another state.

However, some states have not placed restrictions. States such as Georgia, Florida, and Iowa, who have lower covid numbers than other states, do not yet have state-wide travel restrictions.

Travel restrictions are the United States’ next effort in slowing down the virus. With the restrictions, the question is if they truly encouraged Americans to stay in their homes, and out of the airports. Information from The New York Times and CNN.
