SSN-IU hopeful basketball team

With the Indiana Hoosiers basketball season coming to an end this past season there were a lot of things to be changed. One of those being to fire head coach Archie Miller. Miller had a record of 67-58 at the helm and failed to ever reach an NCAA tournament at IU. It was time for a change. Many people thought it would come later but Miller was fired just a few days following IU’s big ten tournament loss to Rugters.

The search for a new coach began as many players entered the transfer portal. Athletic director Scott Dolson was on a mission to not only find the right candidate for the job, but also to make sure his players would stay. The new coach would be announced just a few weeks later and it would be former New York Knicks assistant Mike Woodson. Woodson was a former IU basketball player on some of the best IU basketball teams. This helped Dolson decide, because Woodson knows what the culture is supposed to be like.

Just days later IU landed their first transfer Xavier Johnson. Johnson transferred from Pittsburgh university where he averaged 14.2 ppg and 5.7 apg. This will help IU with guard play as Al Durham decided to leave. Then it started to go up as IU’s star player who will only get better came back. That would be Trayce-Jackson Davis, Davis was the player that really gave IU even a slim chance to get into the NCAA tournament so all the fans were glad he came back.

Woodsons goals are to develop players, and eventually win the big ten. This may be the next big thing for IU basketball, and we will see what happens in his first season. Many people cant wait for the season to start, because it is a fresh start a new beginning. Woodson has a lot of weight on his back as he knows he has to preform, but I think he will accept the challenge.
