Tyler Lacy Q&A

Olivia White

This boys basketball season, senior Tyler Lacy has a lot in stake. It’s not only his senior year, but it’s also his final year of playing basketball ever, so he’s wanting to make a statement. He enjoys spending time with his teammates and attempting to make as many memories as possible before the season finishes. The sectional drawing for this year’s season will take place on February 20th. As the season comes to an end, Tyler Lacy discusses what it’s like to play basketball at Hamilton Southeastern and how the season, his teammates, coaches, and memories have influenced his life.

Q: What has this season meant to you? What are your thoughts as you approach March? Take me through your mentality and the teams you approach.

A: This season has meant a lot to me. Obviously, as a senior this is my last go around, so I have to appreciate everyday that I have left with my teammates and this program. I think even though our record doesn’t show it, we are pretty confident in what we can do come postseason. When sectionals comes around everyone is 0-0 so we need to be locked in and prepared for some of the best competition in the state.

Q: What is something’s Coach’s Ashworth’s has said that’s stuck with you?

A: Something that Coach Ash always says that has stuck around with me is it’s all about how you respond. During a season, or even in life, there are going to be ups and downs things that don’t go your way and it’s all about how you respond to what happens.

Q: If you could change one thing about the season what is it and why?

A: If I could change one thing about this season it would be that it wasn’t coming to an end. I wish we could make the season last longer and I could just get one more year with the guys. It’s a long season but it goes by quick and as a senior it makes it go by that much faster.

Q: What’s your favorite team moment?

A: My favorite team moment has to be the upset against Westfield. Not many teams are even able to play the number one team in the state let alone say they beat the number one ranked team in the state at the time. It was a big game for our team knowing that we can compete with anyone and an overall great team win.

Q: What does this senior class mean to you?

A: This senior class means a lot to me because these are the guys that I have grown up playing with. Ever since the early travel ball days we have been friends and we have all come a long way. Love these guys and glad we were able to set the brotherhood culture in this program.
