Kenny Pickett: The Next Door Over

Davis Brown

In this year’s NFL draft, many analysts were trying to predict what position the Pittsburgh Steelers would select, with the 20th pick in the draft. Some said QB, others said offensive line, and some said defensive backs. Well, with the 20th pick in the draft, the Steelers selected the local Kenny Pickett. He is so local in fact; his facilities will only be one door over in the same building. Kenny Pickett hand size concerns are 'complete joke,' Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi says | Sporting NewsKenny Pickett has had an interesting football career so far. He hails from Ocean Township in New Jersey and was just a 3-star recruit according to 247Sports. With only 11 offers, the University of Pittsburgh was the clear choice for him. For his first few years, he was nothing great, but not bad by any means. It was only until after his senior year, he decided to take his extra year of eligibility, due to the Covid-19 pandemic cutting the regular season short.

His fifth season was when he went from undrafted status to Heisman status. In just 13 games, he threw for 4319 yards, 42 touchdowns with just 7 interceptions. He also ran for five more touchdowns. Pickett led his Panthers to an 11-3 season, an ACC championship win, and a New Years Six bowl appearance, which Pickett didn’t play in to prepare for the draft. He rose his draft stock exponentially

Now, he is ready to show the nation what he has to offer on the biggest stage, wearing number 8 for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
