SSN: Girls Swimming and Diving Season Preview

The Hamilton Southeastern Lady Royals swimming and diving is picking back up in full season coming into this winter. Last year in the 2021-2022 season, the Lady Royals finished 3rd in the state of Indiana in the swimming and diving State Championship. The Royals had an amazing season last year and are looking forward to picking up where they left off.

Looking into this upcoming season, the girls’ first meet is Tuesday November 22, 2022 against Noblesville High School. The sectionals for swimming will take place on February 2, 2023 and the sectionals for diving will take place on February 4, 2023.

“I am most looking forward to championship season and senior night this year,” said senior diver Ella Penny. “I have been working so hard for the past four years so I am really excited to be recognized on senior night. I was injured all summer so I am excited to just be back on the boards in general!”

Going into the season, the girls have been projected to do very well given their finish last season in the State Championship. Audrey Crawford lead the Royals in the State Championship placing 9th overall as a sophomore. She placed first in the 50 meter fly, and third in the 200 meter individual medley relay.

“The team atmosphere changes every year as teammates come and go, but every year I grow to love each group in their own ways,” said Penny. “Being surrounded by a group of people who are there to work hard and also have a bunch of fun is always a blast. I can’t believe it is my last year!”

The girls team as a whole has a chemistry like no other. Junior swimmer Kiley Zoeller says, “The girls team is all really close!” said Zoeller. “We are always supporting and encouraging one another.”

As the season starts to heat up for the girls, be looking out for Audrey Crawford as she is projected to perform very well for her junior year as a swimmer for the Lady Royals. Also be on a lookout for senior diver Ella Penny who placed 25th in the State Championship prelims last year.

Good luck to the Royals this season!
