This is why “WandaVision” will change the future of the MCU

WandaVision recently ended a couple of weeks ago, and fans are raving. From the first episode all the way to the last episode, this new entry to the MCU kept it’s audience captivated, earning an impressive 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.1/10 on IMDB. With stunning imagery, creative and imaginative writing, and the stellar acting most notably from Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, it’s not hard to see how the show got such high ratings.

Each episode goes through a different time period of sitcoms, from the 1950s in episode one all the way to the 2000s era in the last episode. The show cleverly used each time period to their advantage, most prominently the costume and set designs, all making it very believable and pleasing to look at. And the finale, which I won’t spoil in this article, is remarkably gorgeous with CGI that matches and even exceeds most movies today. The script and writing is phenomenal as it does a great job at not confusing casual viewers of the MCU while also pleasing die-hard fans. With dialogue that matches the time period, we are able to get cheesy quotes from the 70s mixed in with introspective and emotional dialogue, especially from Paul Bettany’s Vision. Speaking of which, every single actor in the show deserves some kind of award. Each actor brings their character alive with their own personality and makes you connect with those characters. Paul Bettany is able to capture Vision’s analytical and robotic side as well as his human and emotional side as well, which is an amazing feat considering how they shouldn’t work together but he still finds some way to make it work. Undoubtedly, the actor that deserves the most praise is Elizabeth Olsen. After the events of Age of Ultron, Civil WarInfinity War, and Endgame, there is no question that Wanda Maximoff would be broken, and Olsen captures it perfectly. She shows her acting range of being in a 60s sitcom (which is impressive on it’s own) to a person who has lost everything and everyone.

After watching WandaVision, the viewer is left wanting more. The show sets up so many plots unresolved that will lead into future projects of the MCU, including next year’s Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness where fans speculate that Wanda will be the villain of the movie. After a year without any content, WandaVision is a perfect reopening of the MCU.
