Senior Adam Horner not only excels on the golf course, but he is a model student in the classroom.

Senor Adam Horner is on the varsity golf team and has been playing golf for his whole life. He is currently a plus handicap, meaning he shoots underpar on 18-hole courses regularly. He constantly is working on getting better and being the best golfer possible.

”Playing competitive golf this summer, just fine tuning the weak parts of my game in a competitive atmosphere and try to help that correlate to next spring.” Horner said.

“Adam is one of the hardest workers on the team, he is super focused and dialed in at practice and he just wants to be the best player he can be.” Said teammate Mekheil Garcia.

Even though Horner is very dedicated to golf he is more dedicated in the classroom. Adam holds a 4.23 GPA and 1430 SAT score while playing a varsity sport.

“I think with a high GPA it comes down to me only playing on the weekends and just going to the range when I can during the week. School comes before golf most of the time.”

I asked teammate and friend Mekheil Garcia how he thinks he keeps such a high GPA while he plays golf.

“Adam maintains a high GPA during golf season, because he works hard and makes sure he gets all his homework done and studies for all his tests in time.”

The skill Adam is learning, time management, will stay with him for the rest of his life. He plans to play golf his senior year and try his best to win state.
