Black Panther Releases New Broken Records

Feb. 16 released a new Disney-Marvel movie, Black Panther proved to be a pop cultural phenomenon directed by Ryan Coogler. Within a week of the movie being released to theaters, the movie made a total of 218 billion dollars in global ticket sales. The movie crosses 700 million dollars globally while being placed around the world in theaters.

Black Panther is about a character named T’Challa, who is played by Chadwick Boseman, returns to his home to be crowned as king in his country Wakanda. When T’Challa returns to the country he gets tested and he is drawn into a conflict that could put the fate of Wakanda in his hands.

“The Black Panther movie blew me away with the adventure of the movie,” junior Teia Reece said. “It was so incredible and watching the Black Panther included a lot of variety in the film.”

The film carried a production cost of 200 million dollars. When the preview of the movie came out, it was known for the second-largest preview for a Marvel film. Black Panther has demolished the record for the largest President’s Day weekend movie, which blew out the film Deadpool in 2016 of 152 million dollars.

“With the movie of Black Panther coming out showed many new action scenes across the movie that I was not used to seeing before,” junior Sydney Edwards said. “The movie was packed with action and that is what exactly the movie is about.”

Black Panther broke the record for a box office weekend, the movie has become the fifth-highest grossing opening of all time. Within three days of the film being shown it made 201 million dollars in just three days of being aired on theater screens. The film has blown away the competition in the Marvel Universe.

“Black Panther was like the best movie that I have seen so far and now is my favorite to watch,” junior Alexis Mims said. “It was amazing watching the scenes of T’Challa fighting with all the action that was placed in the movie to try to make the movie more entertaining for the audiences watching.”
