SSN: Pre-Game Planning

SSN%3A+Pre-Game+Planning

Wether you listen to music, pray, eat a meal, or rest, there are hundreds of ways a person can prepare for a high school sporting event. It doesn’t matter if you’re playing or not. Everyone has a pre-game plan intact to get ready to play or cheer on their teams.

“My pregame tradition is to always try and go home and take a nap for a little since I live close to the school,” Junior discus thrower Joel Tsetse says. “After that I go to the school and depending on if it is away or home then I always try and listen to music. When it’s almost game time I try and listen to “push it” by salt-n-peppa then I say a quick prayer to god.”

“Typically me and my team will start with talking about what we need to do in the game that we are about to play,” Sophomore lacrosse player Holden Malone says. “We take a warmup lap and stretch. Then we run a few drills to get ourselves warmed up. We talk about how defense needs to perform and how offense needs to perform. We discuss how the other team plays and how we can beat them.”

“Basically I try to stay focused on the game, I’ll watch film and listen to music,” Senior rugby player Isaac Bowman says. “I’ll run through situations and plays in my head and keep my mind on winning the game.”

“We pregame plan for Blue Crew by setting up as schedule of what chants we want for each game in each quarter,” Senior Blue Crew member Gavin Thomas says. “We also try and figure out how we can incorporate those with the cheerleaders.”
