This school year has been anything but ordinary and tough on everyone. The fun traditions and activities that are planned every year have been thinned and changed to fit state and school board guidelines. The people behind most of these fun and spirit rising activities, Student Council. Homecoming, the Royal tailgate, and spirit week are just a few activities that did not get to reach their full potential. For a plan to become official there are many steps that the council must follow.

Junior and director of publicity, Katie Hite overviewed these steps.

“There are several steps that we as Student Council must take,” Hite said. “We not only have to create a plan, but we have to get it approved by all of administration. There are many meetings with the executive team and administration before we can officially announce an event.”

Planning new events is mostly up to the council. The students get together to hash out ideas and create future plans but there are certain things where it is best to look to the sponsors.

“Our sponsors play a tremendous role on what we were able to plan,” Hite said. “The council comes up with several exciting ideas, and the sponsors share all of the logistics behind them.”

With this unprecedented school year there is a certain level of pressure to return to any sense of normalcy.

“This year has taken away so much for so many people,” Hite said. “Which is why it is so important that we implement impactful events to finish out this year.”
