In an Auditorium Far, Far Away

Olio Road Showing Original Version of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope

A “once in a lifetime experience” is coming to Fishers at the end of October. Olio Road Productions, a student led film making club, is preparing to show the original Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope in the Leonard Auditorium as a club fundraiser.

“You can find this version online, you can find it on E-bay or somewhere else but having access to it and then access to the theater is the perfect intersection,” Jeremiah Follis, club sponsor of Olio Road Productions said. “You can watch this on your computer, sure, but you couldn’t see it on a 200 ft screen.”

George Lucas, the mastermind behind the Star Wars saga, continually made edits on the movies even after their theatrical releases. Each new VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, and Disney+ re-release included changes, meaning most kids haven’t seen the original version of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope that Olio Road is presenting.

The film will be shown October 24, at 7:00 pm. Tickets are currently on sale on Purple Pass for ten dollars a ticket. This event is not limited to students at HSE; however, movie goers must abide by the Leonard Auditorium’s no food, no drink policy while enjoying this cinematic experience. Money raised by this event will go towards film equipment to create this year’s student-made feature film by Olio Road, which is planned to be released in the spring.

“Most kids have never seen the original version that changed cinema and revolutionized movie making. The idea is to recreate that experience for people. It’s a way to celebrate cinema, it’s a thing that I like but maybe also helps [Olio Road Productions] get a little money.”
