Relieving Stress With Spirituality

Get To Know Meditation and Spirituality Club

Meditation and Spirituality Club has become a great way for some students to de-stress, especially in anticipation of finals and the approaching holidays.  

“[The club is] an outlet for stress,” club sponsor Sarah Chattin said.  

The club looks into varying aspects of meditation and spirituality at every meeting, such as zodiac signs, answering the question, ‘why do we meditate?’, and more.  

Spirituality refers to the belief or appreciation in the metaphysical, and meditation is the peaceful practice in mindfulness that can settle nerves and focus the mind. The club merges both into an educating and relinquishing experience.

“[We] giv[e] the people who show up a little bit of information about the club,” Chattin said. “They actually [do] a bit of a meditation session.”  

The student president of the club is Mehal Verma, a junior at HSE. According to Chattin, Verma and her board generate most of the ideas for how the club is run and what they cover during each meeting.  

“I will let them make it what they feel will best benefit students,” Chattin said.  

Meetings are open to anyone, and they meet during some Friday Pathways. Students’ reception of the club is thoroughly positive among those who attend, finding interest in all things mystical or only seeking recluse from the anxiety-inducing school day.  

“I think they enjoy it!” Chattin said about the feelings of club attendees. “[The club is] a way to make themselves the best person they can be.”
