Junior, Outfielder, Emmy Seifferlin has had an outstanding season so far for the Hamilton Southeastern Royals Softball Team, picking up several huge hits in conference play and making plays in the field to finish off games.

Seifferlin said that “[she] thinks the season has been going well, we’ve had some ups and downs, but we are growing closer as a team because of it.” said Seifferlin. One of the key aspects to her struggles “is lacking confidence at the plate and to make plays, but to then not take it so seriously, because at the end of the day it is just a game.” explained Seifferlin. “And overcoming injury and learning how to overcome the mental aspect and to keep her talent right where it was.” said Seifferlin.

During Seifferlin’s career there were many reasons for her success. The people who inspired her to play softball were her 3 older siblings as they all grew up playing softball and baseball and growing up around the field. Seifferlin said the highlight of her softball career was “committing to my dream school to pursue softball and nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University.” At a young age [Seifferlin] knew she wanted to play college softball and to become a nurse.

After reflecting on a very successful season so far Seifferlin said that one thing she is working on is “relaxing and to just have fun. It is always fun to win, but when you play so tense you tend to get caught up in your emotions.” explained Seifferlin. Having a huge senior year is important to her because she wants to leave HSE by making a statement. “Softball has a huge mental aspect to it, and it is important to improve physical and mental health regularly.” said Seifferlin.

Taking a break away from the field, in her free time Seifferlin “loves going on runs and working out to stay in shape in season and in the off-season.” said Seifferlin.

Seifferlin thanks HSE Softball by saying she has “great teammates and coaches who have made all her seasons fun and is looking forward to finishing this year strong.” explained Seifferlin. As the end of the season approaches Seifferlin plans to make her name for the Royals.
