Boys Golf, Driving for Greatness

The Hamilton Southeastern Boys golf team has been making their name on the course. The Royals have earned the number 1 team in Indiana, even before the season. The royals have lived up to the rankings recently.

On Saturday April 20th the royals competed in the Spring Showcase, at Sultans Run. The Royals took home first, shooting at 297, nine over par. Sophomore Mattingly Upchurch shot 72, even par. Junior Kai Warner shot 76, going just four over par.

On Thursday April 25th took first place, competing against Zionsville and Noblesville. Sophomore Mattingly Upchurch led the way for the Royals, shooting 70, -2 of par.

On Saturday April 27th the Royals took 2nd at the Hall of Fame tournament behind Homestead. The Royals were led by Mattingly Upchurch, who shot 73, one over par. Senior Jordan Huxford was another key contributor, shooting 74, two over par.

On Saturday, May 4th, at the Spring Preview, the Royals took home third. The Royals shot 305, 17 over par. Senior Nate Benson played well for the Royals, shooting 73, just one over par. Sophomore Mattingly Upchurch was another contributor, shooting 76, four over par.

To this date the royals next match is Wednesday, May 8th versus Cathedral High School. The Royals continue to make their name known, as they keep having good finishing matches. The Royals plan their road to state and is not stopping.
