HSE boys baseball had a finals week faced off against Columbus North last night at Ken Seitz field. Hamilton Southeastern was coming off a loss to Noblesville two days prior while Columbus north was just coming off a huge 8-7 win vs Fishers 3 days earlier. Cole Earlewine leads the royals in batting average with .300 going into this game followed by Ty Bradle with a .284 batting average and Christian Beal with a .273 batting average. Columbus north opened up the game by scoring 3 runs at the top of the first inning with HSE failing to respond. Columbus north then followed this up by scoring two more runs at the top of the third, the final score was HSE 0 Columbus North 5. Both Michael Hoog and Maddux Bach finished last nights game with a .333 batting average from 3 plate appearances and 3 at bats. JR Eli Lantz, SR Colin St. Clair and SR Jax O’Haver all pitched for HSE last night and St. Clair finished with a 5.25 ERA. Eli Lantz struck out four hitters in just over two innings while only allowing 1 hit against and allowing no earned runs while facing a total of 9 batters. Colin St. Clair faced 16 batters struck out two in two innings while only allowing 2 hits during his stint on the mound. Jax O’Haver faced 8 batters in 2 innings allowing just one hit. Columbus North had a total of 7 stolen bases that game and had a total of 4 hits. HSE plays again this Friday (may 20th) at home vs Franklin Central before looking ahead to their sectional game vs Westfield next Wednesday (May 25th). Columbus north will be facing off against Carmel this upcoming Saturday (May 21st) before looking to their sectional matchup vs East central also Wednesday (May 25th).
