Black History Month Feature: Ms. Patricia Price

In honor of Black History Month, who is a person in current society you look to the most today that has broken a barrier? Why does their story have an impact on you?

The person that I feel has broken racial barriers is Barack Obama. He was the first African American president of the United States. He [broke] the racial barrier and paved the way for other African Americans to run for the highest office in the country!

Who is someone you feel should have a spotlight on them?

I believe Martin Luther King Jr. should always have the spotlight on him. He endured so much hatred and racism because of the color of his skin. But, the hatred for him did not stop him for fighting for equality for all, especially African Americans.

What role does Black History Month have in your life?

Black History Month makes me appreciate all of the accomplishments of other African Americans. It shows me that nothing or no one can stop you from making a positive impact in the world, not even racism.
