As the regular season for HSE varsity girls’ lacrosse comes to an end, current seniors are going off and deciding where and what they want to do with the rest of their life and freshman, sophomores and juniors are just beginning their careers. Looking back on all the accomplishments and goals of this season from the whole team.

Junior Anna Silver said, “I think this season we have done more team bonding events and dinners to help build the team culture and family,” said Silver.

Building a strong bond within the team has helped the team have the success it does. Being 10th in the 2A conference, thanks can be given to the bond between team members. This was very common goal amongst the girl’s sophomore Makenna Metrick says.

Sophomore Makenna Metrick said, “My goal for this season was to just build better friendships with my teammates and to just have a great season,” said Metrick

It looks like this goal was accomplished which has impacted the team very positively. A good community amongst these girls has clearly benefited them looking at how much they differ this season compared to last season.

Sophomore Samantha Kim has seen big change this season, “I think this season differs from last season, because we have a collective goal, even with the changes we made from last year we were able to quickly adapt to it, and make a difference within our team,” said Kim.

A lot of changes were present this season with changes in approach to the game, but the girls have adapted and have been able to utilize these changes. Along with the changes of approach to the game, the team also faces one huge change, saying goodbye to seniors. The seniors have made a huge impact on the team this season, being a big focus for coaches and teammates alike. Junior Anna Silver had this to say about this season’s seniors,

Silver said, “The seniors this year were amazing, and they really helped us improve both on the field as players and off the field as good teammates, “said Silver

On and off the field, the seniors have created a very united environment. Seniors have shown their impact on the team and acted as mentors to the younger girls on the team. This year’s seniors were the last class to be in the state championship game in 2021 which means these girls had a lot to give to the younger players. Saying goodbye can be tough, especially for a high school team, but the bond made this season between teammates and positive changes that were made to the team on and off the field are sure to show, even after the seniors say goodbye.
