Hse Girls track team has had an incredible season. With their sectional win and regional championship meet coming up soon we asked some of the girls on the track team their thoughts about this season, what they have enjoyed the most of this season, and the expectations going into regionals.
Maggie Powers a senior has said that, “ So far the season has been going very well for the team! Many of the individuals on the team have shown so much growth and confidence that have really helped them excel on and off the track”. Maggie Powers also said that her favorite highlight from this past season was, “The highlight of the season so far is honestly just being able to watch my teammates pr during meets and watching them as they hit all of their goals”. Maggie also said her expectations before the regional meet, “ Winning sectionals was definitely a huge confidence booster for everyone considering that our sectionals is one of the hardest in the state to compete at. Yes, I believe that with the talent that this team has, I think a lot of the girls will be able to make it past regionals and onto state”!
Elaina Constantine also a senior her thoughts about how the season has gone so far, “So far this is season has been great. I feel like the whole track team has really connected with each other better than any other season. Its great seeing teammates cheer for the whole team rather than just their friends. I feel like our strong connections with each other has been a huge help in us winning almost every meet we have had”. We also asker her what her favorite highlight was this season, “The highlight of the season was winning Mudsock and the HCC track meet. Beating Fishers always feels great, and the girls track team has never lost to Fishers. So, it feels good to carry on the tradition. Winning HCC was also a highlight because we were competing against good teams, and everyone had to compete well in order to pull out the win”. Finally, we asked Elaina her thoughts on the final stretch of this season, “Unfortunately, my season is over. I placed 6th in sectionals and was the next one up to get a call back to regionals. I would have loved to go, but I am excited to see what my teammates are going to do at regionals”.
Elia Blackmore a junior has her say on what the season has been like, “The seasons been really fun and exciting and a lot of people are having awesome PRs so it’s really fun to see everyone getting ready for state”. We also asked her what has been her favorite moment to take from this season, “I think the highlight is sectionals so far because it was my 3rd meet back and I ran a lot better than I thought. And our team won the meet so that was really fun”. We also asked her about the upcoming regional meet, “I think that I can make it to state, that is my goal. So we will see how regionals go and hopefully my times qualify me to run at state”.
Camryn Mckinney a senior also spoke on what this season has been like, “The seasons gone really well so far! We have a really talented team this year and it’s been fun to watch everyone improve as the seasons gone on”. Both meets were really close, so it really highlighted how important it is for everyone to do their part and that every point counts”.
